- Caving Collective -

Aiming to bridge the gap between Cave Tourism and Cave Research, Caving Collective was established by a group of recreational cavers who found it difficult to find recreational cave trips that weren't commercial tourist traps. While we have nothing against cave tourism, we found that having that extra degree of freedom in the adventure made for a much more enjoyable experience.

Why not just cave with an official Grotto? Grotto's are amazing and they do a lot of amazing work, but recreational trips are often an afterthought as most grotto members are busy with surveys, research and conservation efforts. It's often difficult to find official grotto sponsored trips that are both open to the public and open to individuals with limited or zero experience.

While we primarily focus on recreational trips, these are done in a mindful manner that respects the cave and priotizes cave conservation. Working with local cave conservancy groups and official NSS grotto's, we participate in regular cave cleanup trips, hauling out any trash that has made its way into the cave system. Fauna counts are also recorded, and full trip reports are created after every trip. These get published here, as well to the corresponding conservancy or grotto for that area. We want to create opportunities to those that have always been interested in caving, but never knew how to get involved.

Director

Founder and Director of Caving Collective. My history of caving began after discovering my love for "off-width" chimney rock climbing routes. My first true cave was Roubidoux Cave located near Waynesville, MO. Ever since then, I have developed a passion for exploring caves and more importantly, sharing the experience with others.
